We're so glad you're here.
Preparing for the upcoming school year, or learning a new school can be a lot of work. We've tried to address common questions below, but if you don't find the answer you're looking for, please get in touch!
How does the school communicate?
Important information and handouts come home in students folders each week. Teachers communicate with parents via email and Remind. ParentVUE is a family access portal. It will allow you to see school announcements, attendance, assignments and report cards as they become available.

How do I get involved?
If you are interested in volunteering during school hours, please start by reading the Volunteer Guidelines set by the Hillsboro School District. Once you are approved you can make arrangements with your child's teacher, or reach out to the PTO or front office for school-wide opportunities. Some teachers and staff members may also have projects that can be completed outside of the classroom.

Where do I go to pick up my student at the end of the day?
You can find the 2023-2024 dismissal procedures here. Please contact your child's teacher, or the front office at (503) 844-1350 with any questions.

What if I need to pick up my child in the middle of the school day?
If possible, please let your child's teacher know in advance so they can have your child ready when you arrive. Park and proceed to the main entrance. Push the intercom button to the right of the doors, and a staff member will buzz you in to sign your child out.

What is Indian Hills like?
Front desk staff quickly learn parent faces and names. Teachers greet students warmly in the halls. The school is physically organized by grade level, facilitating communities within the larger student body.
The hallways are quiet, but colorful! Students walk to lunch and specials (Library, Music, PE, ) with respect for the ongoing classes around them. Bright bulletin boards display student work and special events. You can learn more about our principal, Mrs. Thomas, here!
Indian Hills Elementary is truly a school community dedicated to students.
